Indian Railways Launches SwaRail Superapp : It is an all-in-one app that consolidates multiple railway services under a single umbrella. This superapp streamlines the process of ticket booking, checking PNR status, ordering food, and many more services. Currently, in beta mode, both for Android and iOS, the SwaRail app looks to further streamline passenger convenience by doing away with multiple standalone railway apps.
A Single Application for Railway Services
The SwaRail superapp, developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), integrates all public-facing railway apps into one efficient platform. This integration does away with the need for multiple apps, which clutter the phone and make it difficult to access.
It can book reserved and unreserved tickets, order food on trains, lodge complaints with the ‘Rail Madad’, check the status of a ticket and trains with PNR tracking, and get a platform ticket through the SwaRail app. It aims to offer hassle-free services under one platform as envisioned by the Ministry of Railways to smoothen digital railway experiences.
Improved Ticket Reservation and PNR Status Monitoring
Before, different railway services had different apps for passengers. With the SwaRail app, passengers can now have all their activities related to railways on one interface.
Real time PNR status update along with the detailed information of the trains is provided in the app, which enhances user experience by displaying all the needed information at a single place. Furthermore, SwaRail features single sign-on functionality, whereby passengers can access all the combined railway services through one set of credentials. It supports seamless integration with existing railway apps.
Indian Railways has made it easy for users to switch over to the new superapp without much hassle. The SwaRail app allows passengers to use credentials generated earlier from IRCTC RailConnect and UTS Mobile App. All this provides a seamless onboarding, thereby making it convenient for consistent railway patrons to get accustomed to the new system.
Besides, SwaRail has multiple login options, which are m-PIN and biometric authentication. These ensure passengers can log in safely. Such features enhance security but do not compromise ease of use.
Food Ordering and Passenger Support Services
The passenger can order food straight from the SwaRail app while traveling. This service makes travel more convenient as it enables the passenger to view menu items, place an order, and have it delivered to their seat.
In addition, the ‘Rail Madad’ feature allows passengers to lodge complaints and seek help in case of any travel-related issues. This in-built support system ensures a better travel experience by addressing passenger concerns efficiently.
The SwaRail superapp is currently available in beta format on Android and iOS platforms. The users have been invited by the Ministry of Railways to give feedback for further improvement. Once evaluated comprehensively, the app would be launched officially for public use.
