Last week, on Thursday morning, a remote piloted aircraft (RPA) of the Indian Air Force (IAF) went down while undertaking a training mission near Jaisalmer. The crash occurred in an isolated area with no populated regions close by, and luckily, no injuries or property damage was reported. The aircraft was conducting a regular training sortie, which is critical to keep the IAF’s flight operations mission capable and responsive to Operational tasks.
The IAF has confirmed the incident and stated that they have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances of the event. The initial reports specify that the loss was possibly from a technical failure; however, all possibilities have not been ruled out by investigators.
