2025 KTM 390 Adventure vs. 390 Adventure X : KTM has launched the second-generation 390 Adventure in two variants, namely, the standard 390 Adventure and the more affordable 390 Adventure X. The price difference between these two models is ₹77,000. Both of them carry the same engine, but there are differences in features and components. Let’s find out all the major differences between them.
Price Comparison KTM has priced the 390 Adventure X as a more affordable variant. The standard 390 Adventure costs ₹3.68 lakh, while the Adventure X is priced at ₹2.91 lakh (both ex-showroom). This price difference is due to variations in features, suspension, and overall equipment levels.
Suspension and Chassis Differences
The most prominent difference can be seen in the suspension system. The 390 Adventure features a fully adjustable WP Apex USD fork with 30-step adjustability. In comparison, the Adventure X receives a similar fork but without any adjustability. Both models have 200 mm of front suspension travel.
The WP Apex monoshock is found at the back of both bikes. However, the top of the line has 20-step rebound damping and 10-step preload adjustability. The Adventure X only gives preload adjustment. Both models, however, have 205 mm of rear suspension travel.
Wheel and Braking Setup
KTM has designed the wheels according to the changing riding styles. The standard 390 Adventure comes with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear tubeless spoke wheels, which makes it better for off-road adventure. The Adventure X, in contrast, utilizes a more road-oriented 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tubeless alloy wheels.

Braking parts in both variants stay the same. They comprise 320 mm discs at the front and 240 mm at the rear for efficient braking power.
Feature Comparison
Advanced features have been packed into the 390 Adventure. It has Cornering Motorcycle Traction Control, three ride modes, cruise control, and Cornering ABS. The principal features that have improved safety in addition to riding dynamics, especially off-road and high-speed touring, are provided.
In contrast, the Adventure X skips some of these high-end features. However, it still comes with off-road ABS, a bi-directional quickshifter, ride-by-wire throttle, a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, and full LED lighting. This is still a pretty well-equipped motorcycle, though the more affordable variant.
Seat Height and Weight Comparison
The seat height for the Adventure X is 825 mm, making it a tad lower than that of the 390 Adventure, which is at 830 mm. This might make the X variant more accessible to shorter riders. The top-spec model is 183 kg, just 1 kg more than the Adventure X’s 182 kg. The minimal weight difference does not significantly impact handling or performance.
Design and Styling Differences In terms of design, both motorcycles are almost the same. However, KTM has made slight styling changes. Orange handguards feature on the Adventure X, while black-and-white handguards are seen on the 390 Adventure.
The other minor difference lies in the color of the front beak. The loaded X model has an orange beak, but the fully loaded version comes with a white one. The X variant also carries an ‘X’ badge on the front fender. The color option for both remains the same- orange and white.
Engine and Performance
Both the models feature the same 399 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine from the new KTM Duke 390. The engine churns out 46 bhp and 39 Nm of torque, with a six-speed gearbox.
Both the models come with a bi-directional quickshifter as standard fitment. KTM has tuned the engine to give a perfect balance of power and fuel efficiency for both city commutes and highway cruising.
Which Model Should You Choose?
If you’re looking for best off-road capabilities and advanced electronics, the 390 Adventure would be the choice. It includes premium features that include adjustable suspension, traction control, and more ride modes.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a more affordable option without compromising too much on performance, the 390 Adventure X makes sense. It retains essential features while cutting down on the premium add-ons.
Ultimately, the choice depends on your riding style and budget. KTM has ensured that both models cater to different riders while maintaining the essence of adventure touring.
