During a trade conversation with the UK not long ago, Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal openly expressed his strong disapproval of India’s being picked out for its persistent oil imports from Russia. He pointed out that a number of European countries still have indirect trade relations with Moscow and are not under much examination. Goyal’s statements made clear that India’s viewpoint was that its oil imports were a matter of pure national interest and legitimate global market access, not political alignment.
2. Defending Strategic and Economic Autonomy
Goyal restated India’s position that it would not give up its economic sovereignty due to outside influence. He also mentioned that New Delhi will be maintaining its ways of ensuring energy being cheap for its population. The minister blamed the West for their double standards—imposing sanctions on certain countries while expecting the poor ones to follow their trade rules. His strong voice mirrored India’s larger communication of independence and even-handed foreign relations.
3. India’s Energy Security Above All
India, on the other hand, keeps importing Russian oil because of the attractive prices and reliable supply which help to mitigate inflation rates and to give the power industry during the whole time. Western sanctions are exerting pressure on Russia, but India is arguing that its trading is in line with the international law. Goyal’s announcement indicates that India would rather take the road of energy security and fair global trade norms than of one-sided political narratives. click here for the source
