This all-electric variant of the legendary G-Class combines modern electric technology with the rugged charm of its iconic predecessor. The G 580 EV features a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system that delivers a staggering 579 bhp and 1,164 Nm of torque, ensuring power and performance in every journey.
Subtly Refined Design Changes
The G 580 EV continues to carry the silhouette of the classic G-Class, while electric-specific design touches differentiate it. The signature four-slat grille morphs into a closed panel but can be had as an optional EQ grille in blanked-out form with illuminated surrounds in global markets. Subtle changes to the bumpers and A-pillar cladding enhance its aerodynamics.
At the rear, the car has a roof-mounted spoiler and air curtains at the wheel arches, reducing drag. The boot-mounted spare wheel can be replaced by an optional square storage box meant to hold tools and charging cables. Inside, the G 580 EV maintains the opulent cabin layout of its internal combustion counterpart. For charging, the SUV supports 11 kW AC charging and 200 kW DC fast charging. These options will make it convenient for the owner to charge at home or on the go. Mercedes-Benz opened bookings for the G 580 EV in India in July 2024. The model will arrive as a completely built unit (CBU) in limited batches, thus retaining its exclusivity.
