Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the production-spec PureSpeed speedster, its first model in the exclusive Mythos series. Limited to just 250 units worldwide, the PureSpeed closely mirrors the concept revealed earlier in 2024. Its radical design and powerful V8 engine set new standards in performance and exclusivity.
Distinctive Design with F1-Inspired Elements
The PureSpeed takes an adventurous, roofless form with an aesthetic Formula 1-inspired Halo unit embedded in its architecture. Mercedes-AMG stripped the A-pillar and windshield and replaced them with an air deflector over the cockpit. The rear deck has prominent buttresses and houses the rollover bar, adding to the appeal and safety. The radical aerodynamic features with its active flaps create added downforce while driving up the race-inspired appeal.
Redefined Cabin: Sporty and Luxurious cabin
Inside, the PureSpeed features a familiar AMG SL-inspired interior enhanced with premium materials. Carbon fiber and leather dominate the cabin, while a unique IWC Schaffhausen watch adorns the dashboard. The signature tilt-adjustable portrait touchscreen adds modern functionality. Each unit comes with two helmets equipped with an intercom system, allowing seamless communication between occupants and connectivity with smartphones for calls and music playback. The PureSpeed’s engineering boasts cutting-edge AMG technology. Active aerodynamics, including front flaps, enhance stability at high speeds. Stopping power comes from high-performance composite disc brakes with six-piston front and single-piston rear calipers. Rear-axle steering further sharpens agility on winding roads.
Performance Powerhouse: 577 bhp V8 Engine
The PureSpeed is powered by the AMG SL 63’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. This produces 577 bhp and 800 Nm of torque, matched to a 9-speed automatic transmission and fully variable all-wheel drive. The speedster launches from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 315 km/h, matching the SL 63’s blistering performance figures.
