Every June 21, people across the world will dedicate their mats to the practice of balance, flexibility and peace in recognition of International Yoga Day. International Yoga Day originated from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposal which was eventually recognized by the United Nations in 2014. What has developed into an international initiative for well-being, International Yoga Day has become one of the largest movements for well-being across cultures, ages, and continents.

Why and when for yoga?

For its 11th year in 2025, International Yoga Day continues to expand beyond physical movement practices to focus on yoga’s ultimate theme: unity of body, mind, and spirit.
