Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) recently launched its first electric scooters, Honda Activa e: and Honda QC1, marking its official foray into India’s electric two-wheeler market. These models are said to redefine urban commuting by fusing eco-friendly technology with user-centric features. The scooters promise a smooth ride experience for all needs.

Special Battery Arrangements for Different Users

Honda differentiates its electric models with two separate battery configurations. The Activa e: comes with two changeable batteries, which are appropriately termed the Honda Power Pack e:. These facilitate fast battery swaps at a charging station, thus minimizing lost hours. In contrast, the QC1 has a built-in battery configuration and is paired with a portable charging unit that can be easily charged in a home or office.

Both scooters provide battery solutions tailored for urban commuters. Swappable batteries offer flexibility, while fixed batteries ensure consistent performance. Additionally, Honda’s e:swap technology simplifies battery replacement in under a minute, enhancing convenience for riders.

Intelligent Design for Modern Commuters

The Activa e: and QC1 have sported futuristic designs with some vintage Honda design aspects. These show smooth body lines along with LED lighting that can catch the modern eyes of someone. Key features comprise the body-colored rearview mirror, a flat floorboard for added comfort, and even advanced storage solutions.

The Activa e: has connectivity-oriented design with a 7-inch TFT display offering navigation, call alerts, and updating battery status. The QC1 has a less complex design featuring a 5-inch LCD screen with all-important information always accessible. Also featured in the two versions is smart keys, USB-C charging ports, and an under-seat storage option.

The Activa e: brings strong performance through a 6kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). With a top speed of 80 kmph and taking just 7.3 seconds to accelerate from 0-40 kmph, the Activa e promises a thrilling ride. Moreover, it provides three operating modes: Econ, Standard, and Sport, each tailored to the rider’s preferred performance. The dual 1.5 kWh battery pack gives a range of 102 kilometers on a single charge.

On the other hand, the QC1 prioritizes practicality with a 1.8kW in-wheel motor. It can reach a top speed of 50 kmph and has an 80-kilometer range, perfect for city commutes. Charging the QC1’s 1.5 kWh battery to 80% takes about 4.5 hours, ensuring readiness for daily rides.

Enhanced Comfort and Safety Features

Honda fits the sophisticated suspension systems for comfortable ride for the riders. The Activa e: comprises telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable monoshock, providing stability on uneven terrains. The braking system includes a front disc and rear drum combination. The QC1, although lighter, incorporates telescopic forks and twin rear shock absorbers with drum brakes on both the wheels.

The scooters’ ergonomic designs cater to diverse riders, offering seat heights of 766 mm for the Activa e: and 769 mm for the QC1. Ground clearance and lightweight builds further ensure a smooth and agile riding experience.

Connectivity and Tech Integration

Honda equips the Activa e: with leading connectivity options. The sophisticated 7-inch TFT display is GPS-enabled and includes controls for music as well as vehicle health diagnostics, for an even more tech-savvy ride. Even the QC1 will keep riders better-informed, thanks to a more straightforward display.

Rollout and Availability

Honda will be launching these scooters in a phased manner. The Activa e: will first arrive in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi and then spread to other cities. The QC1 will simultaneously be available at various dealerships all over the country. Pre-bookings start on January 1, 2025, and the deliveries will start in February.

Honda also backs its customers with a three-year/50,000 km warranty and three free services in the first year. It is a testament to the fact that Honda is confident about the durability and reliability of its electric vehicles.
