At EICMA 2024, Hero MotoCorp unveiled the new Xtreme 250R, powered by a liquid-cooled 250cc engine, marking it as the company’s latest naked streetfighter bike.This bike is Hero’s flagship model in the Xtreme range that incorporates extreme styling while being functional based on Hero’s Xtunt 2.5R concept.

Design and Styling

The Xtreme 250R is quite good looking with an aggressive and muscular stance. Key features of this motorcycle include an LED projector head lamp, and aerodynamically designed tank shrouds derived from the design of Xtreme 125R. A split seat, a stubby up swept exhaust and minimal body work gives the bike an imposing as well as sleek look.Hero designed the Xtreme 250R around a trellis framework, ensuring a balanced 50:50 weight distribution to enhance the bike’s handling characteristics. It also has a fully electronic instrument cluster, including GPS navigation with turn by turn directions feature and bilateral connectivity.

Advanced Suspension and Braking System

The Xtreme 250R is fitted with a preload adjustable monoshock at back. Additionally, the Xtreme 250R is fitted with a 43 mm USD fork up front. Therefore, it is quite versatile in adjusting to various road circumstances and offers a comfortable and stable ride. It is also agile, lightweight, and easily maneuverable thanks to its alloy wheels. Hero equipped the Xtreme 250R with disc brakes featuring switchable ABS modes on both ends, allowing riders to toggle each mode based on their style and road conditions. Collectively, all these features enhance control, which is especially useful during aggressive riding or in high speed rides.

Power and Performance

The 250cc single-cylinder water cooled engine is located in the heart of the Xtreme 250R. It churns out 29.5 bhp at 9250 rpm and 25 Nm at 7250 rpm. A 6 speed gearbox is provided with the engine to achieve urban and interstate efficiency. Hero claims that this bike can go from 0 to 60 kmph in just 3.25 seconds making it a very competitive bike in this class. The engine characteristics are also very smooth and with a good power to weight ratio, the bike can perform well even in culinary settings.

Competitive Landscape and Expected Launch

Hero has not yet announced the pricing or launch date for the Xtreme 250R, but many expect it to debut in India soon to compete directly with models like the KTM 250 Duke and Suzuki Gixxer 250.
