Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have now achieved the status of the EGOT.

The duo won an Emmy on Sunday for “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” An original song they co-wrote with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman for the “Only Murders in the Building” – Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
Pasek and Paul became the 20th and 21st members of the EGOT club, which has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and a Tony award.
Their age-39 is also a tie with heavyweight songwriter Robert Lopez as the youngest to win all 4 awards. They are also the first such creative team to earn all four awards and do so concurrently with the remaining members of the cabinet.
The first step in the EGOT came when they won Best Original Song Oscar for City of Stars in 2017 for the motion picture La La Land.
They went on to win the Tony Award for original score in the show Dear Evan Hansen, they also won a Grammy for best musical cast recordings of the said play in 2018.
Emmy wins for Only Murders
The couple, who met at the University of Michigan, write songs for musicals such as ‘The Greatest Showman’ and are crafting lyrics for upcoming releases like ‘Snow White’ and ‘Atlantis.’
Pasek and Paul are part of the select group of EGOT composers, lyricists and writers, including Richard Rodgers, Marvin Hamlisch, Jonathan Tunick, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, John Legend, Alan Menken, and most recently Elton John.

Steve Martin was impressed by the murder mystery play “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” featured in a fictitious Broadway musical in the third season of the Hulu series.
Paul highlighted the narrative tension in Martin’s character, an over-eager performer scared of costumes, in an interview about the audience’s intense engagement with the explosive content driving the performance in Only Murders, raising questions of surpassing expectations.
