BMW unveils its Panoramic iDrive system at CES 2025, showcasing a revolutionary approach to in-car technology. Designed with the latest Operating System X, this system promises enhanced functionality and seamless integration. The Panoramic iDrive will feature in BMW’s Neue Klasse models starting in late 2025, setting a new benchmark for automotive innovation.
Panoramic Vision Display: A Driver-Centric Focus
The heart of the Panoramic iDrive system is the edge-to-edge Panoramic Vision display. Located at the base of the windshield, the pseudo-head-up display offers key driver information at eye level. BMW makes the experience intuitive, allowing customers to personalize the display via the central touchscreen.
Complementing this is the optional 3D head-up display, which casts information directly on the windshield. This integrates into navigation and automatic driving details and makes situational awareness much stronger. These two displays come together to create an integral and enveloping driving interface.
Central Touchscreen and Multifunction Steering Wheel
A BMW launches a refurbished central touchscreen sporting an angular form and the high-performance matrix backlighting technology. The new layout simplifies access and interactions allowing the driver to shuffle information through the Panoramic Vision using swipe gestures.

Even the steering wheel gets its update, as this one will now feature a two-spoke design with vertical spokes. ADAS and other car functions get controls that are flanking the horn, with wing-like extensions. It now features haptic feedback, with illuminated controls that help maintain a driver’s eyes on the road. End
The Panoramic iDrive system reduces physical controls and instead uses haptic buttons or touch screen alternatives. Features such as windscreen wipers, turn signal indicators, volume control, and gear selectors are now accessed through touch-based inputs. The haptic buttons provide a tactile feel and an embossed surface for identification. BMW’s design is simplicity without loss of functionality.
Customization with Operating System X
Operating System X acts as the nerve center of the Panoramic iDrive system. It enables extensive customization, allowing drivers to tailor their in-car experience. Additionally, the OS supports an enhanced language suite for the intelligent virtual assistant, making voice commands more intuitive and versatile.

What to Expect in the Neue Klasse Models
The Panoramic iDrive system will make its premiere in BMW’s Neue Klasse lineup. First, there’s an SUV model that is to be released later this year, and a 3 Series replacement is planned for 2026. All these cars speak to the innovativeness that BMW is taking towards the technology with user-friendly design.

BMW’s Panoramic iDrive system is redefining the interaction between drivers and their vehicles. With cutting-edge technology combined with intuitive design, BMW is setting a new standard for in-car experiences. As the Panoramic iDrive system rolls out, it promises to transform how drivers interact with their vehicles, paving the way for a smarter and more connected future.
