Ather Energy celebrates its 10th anniversary with the release of its most powerful scooter, the 450 Apex. Originally launched at Rs 1.89 lakh, the 450 Apex now costs Rs 1.95 lakh due to the end of its introductory offer. This price hike reflects its status as the priciest Ather scooter to date. Production of this limited-run electric scooter will continue only until October 2024.

Unique Design Features
Ather distinguishes the 450 Apex from other models with a special paint scheme. The scooter features a two-layer ‘Indium Blue’ paint job, complemented by orange accents on the wheels, logos, and frame. Transparent side panels add a unique touch, reminiscent of the translucent panels from the Ather 450X Series 1. These design elements not only enhance its aesthetic appeal but also set it apart from other scooters in the 450 series.
Enhanced Performance
The 450 Apex boasts a more potent motor than the standard 450X. It delivers a peak power of 7 kW, which is 0.6 kW higher than the 450X. Although the torque output remains unchanged at 26 Nm, the Apex introduces a new ‘Warp+’ ride mode. This mode allows the scooter to achieve a top speed of 100 kmph, making it the first Ather model to reach this speed. The 450 Apex accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.9 seconds, nearly half a second faster than the standard model. Moreover, it offers a 30 percent improvement in roll-on acceleration, significantly enhancing its performance in the 40-80 kmph range.
Advanced Regenerative Braking System
Ather equips the 450 Apex with an advanced regenerative braking system. This system, combined with a new energy management algorithm called ‘Magic Twist’, enhances the scooter’s efficiency. Ather claims this system can bring the scooter to a complete stop without brake lever inputs. It operates consistently regardless of the scooter’s battery state-of-charge (SoC). This innovation also leads to a slight increase in the overall certified range, now standing at 157 km, compared to 150 km for the standard model.
Carryover Components
The 450 Apex retains several components from the 450X. It features the same 3.7 kWh battery pack, suspension, and braking setup. However, it lacks an anti-lock braking system (ABS). Instead, it comes standard with a tyre pressure monitoring system. Additionally, buyers receive a special helmet designed to match the scooter’s color scheme.
The Future of the 450 Series
The 450 Apex likely represents the final iteration of the current 450 platform. Ather plans to introduce significant upgrades for the successor to the 450 series. Currently, Ather offers two main model lines: the performance-focused 450 series and the family-oriented Rizta. These model lines cater to different market segments, ensuring that Ather meets the diverse needs of its customer base.
Conclusion
The Ather 450 Apex stands as a testament to Ather Energy’s commitment to innovation and performance. Its unique design, enhanced motor, and advanced braking system make it a standout in the electric scooter market. With the price hike reflecting its premium status, the 450 Apex offers a glimpse into the future of electric scooters. As Ather continues to evolve, we can expect more groundbreaking developments in their product lineup. For now, the 450 Apex remains a fitting tribute to a decade of Ather Energy’s achievements.
