Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins and his wife Rebecca (Becky) Cummins have welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Edi. Becky shared the heartwarming news on Instagram, posting a touching picture of their newborn daughter.
She’s here,” Becky said with joy. “Our beautiful baby girl, Edi… Words cannot begin to explain how thrilled & filled with love we feel now.”
Cummins’ Paternity Leave and Family Priorities
Australian pacer Cummins, who took paternity leave during Australia’s ongoing Test series in Sri Lanka, has been vocal about balancing family and cricket. When asked about his first child, Albie, Cummins had said that he wanted to be more present this time.
“I missed a big chunk [of Albie’s early days] last time, and I want to work out how we can spend a bit more time at home for that initial period this time around,” he shared in October.

Cummins believes that prioritizing family should be the norm for all players. “Within reason, no one is ever going to bat an eyelid if someone needs to put their family first,” he said. “We’re playing cricket, it’s not the end of the world.”
His decision is similar to that of other countries’ cricketers. Last month, Travis Head and Mitch Marsh missed Australia’s Pakistan series due to a paternity break while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also taken break in the recent past for family reasons.
In other news, Cummins’ injury has ruled him out of next month’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Alongside teammates Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Marsh, who are also sidelined due to injuries, he adds to Australia’s concerns. Meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis has announced his retirement from ODIs, forcing the selectors to make four changes to the squad.
Despite missing the tournament, Cummins is focused on **family and recovery** so that he returns stronger for future cricketing commitments.
