Reliance Jio Discontinues JioCinema: JioCinema is no longer present in the recharge benefits of prepaid plans by Reliance Jio. Jio used to offer the streaming app as a free add-on on its previous offerings. Jio users can’t access JioCinema any longer for free with any plan. This also comes after Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema announced their merger by launching JioHotstar.
JioHotstar Replaces JioCinema in Selected Plans
Reliance Jio has also launched JioHotstar replacing JioCinema. Free subscription to JioHotstar is available under some prepaid packs. JioHotstar access is available via the ₹195 and ₹949 recharges. Both of them provide varying periods of validity as well as add-ons.
Jio Prepaid Plans No Longer Mute JioCinema
Reliance Jio has revised its website, excluding JioCinema from every prepaid recharge benefit. The exclusion extends to every plan, starting from the ₹249 plan that offers 28-day validity up to the ₹3,599 annual plan. Jio currently still offers JioTV and JioCloud as free services with prepaid recharges.
JioHotstar Subscription Plans and Pricing
JioHotstar is now independent, providing subscription-based streaming. The ad-supported JioHotstar option is available at ₹149 monthly, enabling streaming of content on a single mobile device at 720p quality. The premium option is priced at ₹299 monthly or ₹1,499 annually, with access to high-definition content ad-free.
Jio Still Offers Other OTT Benefits
Even after deactivating JioCinema, Reliance Jio still offers other entertainment features with some recharge plans. The users get access to Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, ZEE5-SonyLIV, and FanCode. The ₹195 plan gives a total of 15GB of data, whereas the ₹949 plan gives unlimited calls, 100 SMS daily, and 2GB of daily data.
Data Speeds After Exhaustion
After users use the provided high-speed data, internet speed decreases to 64kbps. All prepaid plans have this, even those providing JioHotstar.
Reliance Jio dropping JioCinema indicates a move towards JioHotstar. Subscribers seeking complimentary streaming services have to now verify the eligibility for JioHotstar in their recharges.
