‘Ponniyin Selvan’ star Jayam Ravi on Monday announced that he will move for divorce from his wife Aarti, who married to him for fifteen years, for ‘personal reasons’.
Ravi is one of the most recognizable and popular actors divorce in Tamil movies and the two-part film “Ponniyin Selvan” shot to pan India fame. The Bollywood director cast him in the image of the eponymous character – Prince Arulmozhi Varman – who afterwards would occupy the Chola dynasty’s throne as Rajaraja Chola.
Aarti, daughter of TV producer Sujatha Vijayakumar, wed in 2009 and have two children.
in divorce The actor wrote, “After much thought, reflections, and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of marriage with Aarti. It was not an impulsive decision, and it is not a desire that I suppress because of the need to placate the public or reporters, this is something I truly believe is respectful to everyone concerned.”
He further requested,” And with the very documents that would enable him in the future to justify the conduct of family matters, the authors apparatus. So, I would like to call upon each one of you to understand the situation and its significance to all of us and request all of you to please respect our and our families’ privacy during such distressing times and also request all of you refrain from making assumptions, hear say or making any allegations with respect to this issue and let the issue stay behind closed doors.”
Tamil actor Jayam Ravi announced his separation from his wife, Aarti, on September 9. On his X, formerly known as Twitter, actor Jayam Ravi expressed that such a decision has come to pass only after a lot of consideration and time.
In his statement recollected by Jayam Ravi in Tamil and English, he was working on complete transparency with his fans as well as with the press. He began by thanking everyone for their kind understanding and explained the challenges of announcing such news, saying, “I am indeed sorry. It is with a lot of pain that I have to announce an update regarding my life which is very personal for all of us.”
He continued, “I have thought about it, reflected on it, and held long discussions and thus have made the excruciating decision of going ahead with the termination of my marriage with Aarti. This is not an impulsive step, and this is for reasons pertaining to me which I consider best under the circumstances for all concerned.”
Speaking out to the public, Jayam Ravi asked for space and said, “In this light therefore, I would like compassionately stress this request here that all of you respect the need for privacy – not only for us but our family members as well and let me even go further and request that all of you avoid making any assumptions, speculation, or even worse, accusations in this matter and allow it to remain private.”
Jayam Ravi, the NT Rama Rao in Ponniyin Selvan, made headlines long back when he and his wife Aarthi called it quits on their marriage of 15 years on Monday.
He went to X (that is Twitter) to share this news and said for ‘personal reasons’. Jayam Ravi shared two pieces of notes one in Tamil and the other in English. The opening words were: “Every person goes through a number of phases in life each of which is complete in itself and has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. A lot of you have seen and supported, with much love, my travels- officially and otherwise and thus I have always made it a point to be as open and candid with my supporters and the press as I can. I rather regret such an emotional subject, but I have no choice and it is regretfully comfortable to bedridden.”
Jayam Ravi was quick to mention that he hasn’t taken the decision in haste. He wrote, “After a lot of pensive and remiss conversations, I have made the choice to end my marriage to Aarti. This decision has not been made out of haste and it comes out on personal lines which I feel will be for the benefit of all parties concerned.”

Jayam Ravi noted cabbage of time to clarify that he did not rush at this decision.
He argued, “Aarti and I have had a lot of discussions, reflections, attention, and I have come to that difficult decision after all – to go ahead and marry her.” It is not an easy decision and it is taken for the sake of the people involved.”
The fans were also requested to let him handle the issue without any disturbance or any queries regarding his marriage, wow, Jayam Ravi had penned down saying, “Today, if you have come to the conclusion that it is appropriate to write this, I will do so.”
