 
The Commonwealth Sport Executive Board has made a supportive recommendation to the General Assembly that Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is the recommended host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. If confirmed at the General Assembly in November, Ahmedabad will be the second city in India to host the Commonwealth Games, after Delhi in 2010. Ahmedabad’s bid demonstrated modern infrastructure, efficient transportation connectivity, and a commitment to organizing a sustainable games. Hosting the Commonwealth Games will bring unprecedented global spotlight to India’s already expanding sports ecosystem. The bid also reflects the Commonwealth and its members’ faith in India’s ability to host a multi-sport event at a world-class level, honouring and showcasing member nations’ great athletes and diversity.

The 2030 Games have historical importance, marking 100 years since the Commonwealth Games were first held in Hamilton, Canada, in 1930. Selecting Ahmedabad represents continuity and revival of the Commonwealth movement, particularly following the uncertainties of the earlier hosts. This milestone enhances India’s sporting status in the world alongside countries like Australia and the UK, who have hosted the Games on multiple occasions. Ahmedabad is a previous host of the Games, further reinforcing the viability of India.
