Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch the all-new CLA on March 13, an important move for its future line. Based on the new MMA platform, the CLA will come in all-electric as well as internal combustion engine (ICE) options. The German carmaker also announced that the model would succeed the A-Class as the automaker’s entry-level sedan.
A Sleek and Modern Exterior
Mercedes-Benz has remained faithful to the design language of the CLA Concept that was unveiled at the 2023 Munich Auto Show. The production version maintains the swooping coupe-like roofline and characteristic wavy headlamps with the signature three-point star lighting feature.
The newest teaser indicates that the slim taillamps of the concept model will carry over to production. The CLA’s exterior is a balance of elegance and aerodynamics, providing a dramatic road presence while maximizing performance and efficiency.
A Tech-Forward Interior Experience
Inside, the CLA will introduce Mercedes-Benz’s internally developed Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). This next-generation system combines an AI-powered virtual assistant, onboard supercomputer with high performance, and a completely connected tech stack.

The CLA, with MB.OS, will also have Level 2++ Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). But its availability will be market-specific. It improves safety, convenience, and driving experience overall, making the CLA a leader in smart mobility.
All-Electric Variants: Performance and Efficiency Combined
The CLA’s electric variant will have rear-wheel drive as standard. A main drive motor will deliver up to 268 bhp, with a built-in two-speed transmission for better efficiency. For added performance, Mercedes will provide a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive variant with a second 107 bhp motor on the front axle. This front motor will only be activated when extra power or traction is required.
Mercedes-Benz has announced two battery pack versions for the CLA EV:
- A 58 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery
- An 85 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery
Through these battery options, Mercedes seeks to provide a staggering range of more than 750 km on a single full charge, which will be a new standard of efficiency in its segment.
Internal Combustion Engine Options
For customers who want traditional powertrains, the CLA will have a new-generation 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. Mercedes-Benz will provide three levels of output:

- 134 bhp
- 161 bhp
- 188 bhp
Whereas the EV variant will have 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard and offer front-wheel drive as a low-cost alternative, ICE versions will have front-wheel drive standard and 4MATIC all-wheel drive on the options list. Power is transferred through a newly engineered 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). This transmission has a built-in electric motor that provides an extra 27 bhp burst for temporary periods, optimizing acceleration and efficiency.
Mercedes-Benz’s Vision for the CLA
The new CLA is not only a model update; it is Mercedes-Benz’s vision for the future of sustainable and technologically advanced mobility. With both ICE and EV variants, the CLA appeals to a wide variety of customers while introducing new benchmarks in efficiency, performance, and luxury.
With the official launch mere days away, excitement remains at a fever pitch. The new-gen CLA is set to redefine entry-level luxury sedans, combining innovation, style, and advanced technology into one irresistible package.
