Ducati India has now begun officially taking advance bookings for the DesertX Discovery ahead of its launch. Launched globally in July 2024, the new Discovery will become the third version in the DesertX line, after the standard DesertX and the DesertX Rally, aimed at those interested in longer-distance touring with a higher emphasis on comfort and practicality in their long-haul rides.
Ducati has fitted the DesertX Discovery with several features to make it even more touring friendly than the standard model. It sports a sharp red and white color scheme which gives it an eye-catching appeal. Unlike the standard DesertX, the Discovery comes with many optional accessories standard.
These enhancements comprise a reinforced sump guard, engine protectors, a radiator grille, and reinforced handguards to make it more powerful. Moreover, Ducati has also added a larger windshield to the Discovery for better wind protection and heated grips for warm feeling during winter rides and equipped with a center stand for easier parking and maintenance.
For long-distance riders, Ducati has also fitted side panniers as standard, so riders can carry luggage without any additional modifications.
No Changes to Performance and Chassis
While the DesertX Discovery sports multiple touring-focused upgrades, Ducati has left its engine and suspension untouched. Like in the variant reviewed here, the motorcycle features the same 937cc Testastretta L-twin engine, producing 108 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.
The suspension setup would be the same as the DesertX standard; it has got a 46mm KYB USD fork and a KYB mono-shock at the back. Both these units are entirely adjustable, promising a smooth ride on various kinds of terrains. The off-road capabilities stay the same on this bike due to a 21-inch wheel at the front and an 18-inch rear wheel, Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires.
Expected Pricing and Launch Details
Ducati will place the DesertX Discovery above the standard DesertX in its Indian lineup. The former presently retails at ₹18.33 lakh ex-showroom. At this price, the Discovery is expected to be priced over the base model due to added equipment.
There is no fixed launch date in India. This motorcycle may very well enter India soon now that bookings have commenced. Those serious adventure tourers seeking an upscale and potent tourer are surely going to fancy the DesertX Discovery.
