Hero MotoCorp Discontinues Xpulse 200T and Xtreme 200 4V

Hero MotoCorp Discontinues

Hero MotoCorp has discontinues its Xpulse 200T and Xtreme 200 4V motorcycles. Both models have not been doing well in terms of sales, which is the reason why Hero MotoCorp has taken off these models from the list of its products. Though Hero MotoCorp hasn’t issued an official statement, dealer sources have confirmed the discontinuation.

Why It Was Dropped

The Hero Xpulse 200T didn’t find much favor because it was less attractive than its adventure-oriented cousin, the Hero Xpulse 200 4V. The Hero Xtreme 200 4V did not find takers in the Indian market either. Low sales led to its demise as well.

The Xpulse 200T was a road-oriented version of the popular Xpulse 200 adventure bike. It featured 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends, in contrast to the Xpulse 200 4V’s spoked wheels. Its lower handlebar and center-set footpegs offered a more upright and comfortable riding position.

Hero MotoCorp Discontinues

The Xpulse 200T was powered by a 199.6 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled, 4-valve engine that churned out 19 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 17.35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The motorcycle had a five-speed gearbox and was priced at around Rs 1.30 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Xtreme 200 4V came with a semi-faired design and used the same engine as the Xpulse 200T. In terms of power and torque, it was identical and therefore comparable on paper. Yet, the model failed to carry those features to strong sales. At Rs 1.41 lakh ex-showroom, it did little to create a space for itself in India’s two-wheeler market.

Hero Xpulse 200T: Road-Centric Variant

Despite discontinuing these models, Hero MotoCorp is always on the lookout for innovations. The company recently displayed three new motorcycles at EICMA 2024: the Xpulse 210, Xtreme 250, and Karizma 250. Apart from that, Hero has also announced the launch of the Destini 125 scooter, adding to its line of products.

The discontinuation of the Xpulse 200T and Xtreme 200 4V underlines the problems in a dynamic motorcycle market. Hero MotoCorp’s future launches will probably learn from the mistakes and emphasize consumer preference and market dynamics. Motorcycle enthusiasts now await the brand’s next launches.
