New Maruti Suzuki Dzire Bags Five-Star Rating in Global NCAP

New Maruti Suzuki Dzire

The new 2025 Maruti Suzuki Dzire finally ‘made it’ on the roads towards safety by gaining five stars in crash tests conducted by the Global New Car Assessment Programme. The fourth-generation Dzire, scheduled for a November 11 launch and available in both petrol and CNG versions, is the first Maruti Suzuki model to earn the coveted five-star rating for adult occupant protection. Here is what made the new Dzire stand out.

Untangling the Five-Star Achievement

The 2025 Dzire achieved an impressive score of 31.24 out of a maximum 34 points in adult occupant protection. The frontal offset crash test saw the head and neck of the driver and front passenger rated “good,” with the chest protection for the driver rated marginal and adequate for the front passenger. Notable features include:

New Maruti Suzuki Dzire
  • Knee Protection: The knees of the driver and front passenger scored “good” and improved safety for frontal impacts.
  • Footwell and Bodyshell Stability: The footwell and the bodyshell were rated to be stable enough to accept more loadings.
  • Side Impact Test: Head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis areas scored “good.”
  • Side Pole Impact Test: Head, abdomen, and pelvis scored “good,” but chest score was marginal.

This is the first time Maruti Suzuki has scored the highest rating up to date, as Dzire outperforms the four-star rating acquired by Vitara Brezza back in 2018 for adult occupant safety.

Four-Star Rating in Child Occupant Protection

While four stars again rank the Dzire, child occupant protection also saw a four-star rating on a score of 39.20 out of 49. The key child safety features included:

  • Child Seat Performance In the frontal offset test, for a 3-year-old dummy, the child seat provided complete head and chest protection except neck protection. For the 18-month-old dummy, the rearward-facing child seat moved the head away from contact completely for perfect protection.
Side Impact Protection For the dummies of both ages that were used in side impact test, they covered fully.

One area that still needs improvement is the lack of a mechanism to disable the front passenger airbag when using rearward-facing child seats.

Standard Safety Features on the New Dzire

New Maruti Suzuki Dzire

The new Dzire boasts a maximum number of standard safety features:

  • Airbags: Six airbags provide all-round cover for the occupants.
*Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Helps preserve stability at the critical moment of sudden maneuver or slippery conditions.
*ISOFIX child seat anchors ensure secure installation of child seats, enhancing child safety.*Three-Point Seatbelts A necessity for all five passengers, adding more safety measures
*Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) No wheel lock-up in case of emergency brakings.
*Seat Belt Reminder and Rear Parking Sensors Ensures that passengers are well and safely buckled in for no bumper collision while reversing.

On the other hand, the outgoing Dzire model, which is very popular in its variant form, received just two-star adult and child safety rating. However that again is a testament to the massive strides Maruti Suzuki has taken in revamping the most recent Dzire variant for better safety-related excellence in accordance with the present safety trends and aspirations of the target audience.

Why the GNCAP Rating of the New Dzire Really Matters:

Being rated a five-star car is a milestone for Maruti Suzuki, which had been working on enhancing the safety credentials of its vehicles. Additionally more importantly, achieving this rating boost consumer confidence as safety factors assume more importance in consumer decisions on vehicle purchases. However the rating, per se, brings into sharp perspective that with Global NCAP testing protocol being much stricter, it underlines how far ahead the Dzire has advanced in engineering on high safety standards.

The new Dzire from Maruti Suzuki reinforces its commitment to safety, setting a new benchmark in affordability. This family-oriented car offers enhanced occupant protection, making it a strong choice for safety-conscious buyers.
